Eastern Nepal is characterised by greater diversity on many accounts; ethnic groups such as the Rai and Limbu people,a prolific range of flora due to the higher summer rainfall in the region, and some of the most outstanding mountain vistas anywhere in the Himalaya. By following the glacial torrent of the Tamur and Ghunsa Rivers to their source on the north west side of the Kanchenjunga Himal, we emerge to another world.
Guests will be picked up from the airport on arrival and transferred to the hotel. We spend today discussing the expedition specifics and relaxing for the day. Overnight stay in hotel at Kathmandu.
Today is reserved for acclimatization and local sightseeing. The local attractions include the Kathmandu Darbar Square, Swayambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Temple and Pashupatinath Temple, among many others. Overnight stay in hotel at Kathmandu.
After breakfast, we catch a flight n the morning for Taplejung, which takes almost no time. From Taplejung, we begin our trek as we head for Mitlung, arriving here by the afternoon and checking in to our guesthouse for the night. Overnight stay in guesthouse at Mitlung.
In the morning, we depart for Chirwa. We descend downhill as we arrive at Tawa. From here, we ascend again and cross the Thiwa suspension bridge, until we arrive at the quaint hamlet called Chirwa. We check in to our guesthouse and retire for the night. Overnight stay in guesthouse at Chirwa.
We cover a lot of greenery and forested area as we head towards Sukathum. We cross lush cardamom fields, dense forests and the Ghunsa River until arrive at Sukathum. We arrive here and check in to our hotel stay. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Sukathum.
Today is a hard day trekking as we head out for Amjilosa, trekking over rough terrain as we ascend a steep trail, descend and cross the river before arriving at the foot of a gorge. We climb this from the bottom and bass the village of Solima before arriving at Ampilosa. We relax after a hard day as we check in to our stay for the night. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Amjilosa.
We begin today by ascending from the river bank until we enter the forest area, comprised of Bamboo, fir and Rhododendron tree and descending back to arrive at the river bank. From here, we begin ascending again, crossing a few small bridges and bearing witness to beautiful waterfalls originating from the mountains. A short trek from here lays the village of Gyabla. After breakfast, we depart for Ghunsa in the morning. We descend down the river and progress further as we witness the valley opening out. Along the way, we stop at Phale, a small Tibetan refugee settlement where hand-woven handicrafts and homemade rugs are available. We travel through dense forests of conifer and pine until we arrive at Ghunsa. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Ghunsa.
We spend today acclimatizing to the rise in altitude. You can pass the time by taking a short hike to the Laspsan La Monastery for a photo session. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Ghunsa.
We head north as we say goodbye to Ghunsa and travel further inland. We face beautiful views of the surrounding mountain ranges, and pass through scenic flowerbeds, meadows and pine forests. After crossing the bridge at Rampuk Kharka, we keep advancing until we reach the hamlet of Kambachen. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Kambachen.
We spend today acclimatizing to the altitude and checking for the onset of Altitude sickness. You can spend today at your leisure, either relaxing or visiting the Nuphchu Khola Valley area. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Kambachen.
Today is long and hard day of trekking as we travel through rocky fields and huge boulders, until we arrive at Ramtang Monastery. After a short visit, we continue onward and descend through a landslide prone Cliffside until we reach the river and the village of Lhonak at it banks. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Lhonak.
Our trail today takes us along the Kanchenjunga Glacier until we arrive at the North base camp at Pangpema. The route is landscape prone so must be crossed carefully. The base camp itself is flat meadow. A short distance away, you can observe the magnificence of the Jannu, Kanchenjunga and Chang Himal Peaks. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Pangpema.
After breakfast, we head back the way we came towards Lhonak and continue to descend the valley until we reach the Ramtang Monastery. The change in route provides a different view of mountain peaks like the Kanchenjunga, Taple Shikhar, Gimmigela and Mera Peak. We arrive at Kambachen by evening at retire for the night. Today is a relatively short day of trekking as we descend down the valley to arrive back at Ghuna. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Ghunsa.
We ascend today to reach our next destination at Sele Le. We have lunch near the closest clean water source and head to Sele Le, arriving here by the evening. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Sele Le.
Today is another day of ascent as we cross a number of passes like the Sinion La, Mirgin La and Bhanjyang, dwith views of the Jannu Himal and the Makalu Peaks in the background. We arrive at Cheram after a steep descent and retire for the night. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Cheram.
From Cheram, we ascend past the Yalung Galcier and along the Simbuwa Khola, crossing the village of Lapsang to arrive at Ramche. A short hike from here lies a steep ridge. After we cross the ridge, we follow a stream to climb the moraine top. From here, the southern face of the Kanchenjunga is clearly visible, as well as the Jannu Himal. We descend towards Tortong along the Simbuwa Khola trail. We tread beautiful rhododendron forests to arrive at Tortogn. We check in to our guesthouse and retire for the night. Overnight say in Guesthouse at Tortong.
Our trail today leads us through forests and landslide prone areas as we head towards Yamphudin. After a descent, we arrive at the village of Yamphudin, inhabited by Sherpa, Linbus and Rais. We check in to our guesthouse and retire for the night. Overnight say in Guesthouse at Tortong.
We trek today towards the village of Mamanke. The terrain is mostly forested area. We arrive at Mamanke by the evening and check in to our guesthouse stay for the night. Overnight say in Guesthouse at Mamanke.
After breakfast, we depart for Suketar. The terrain remains unchanged. The trek is a short one. We arrive at Suketar by late afternoon and check in to our guesthouse for the night. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Suketar.
After breakfast, we catch our flight back to the city of Kathmandu. Check in to the hotel and spend the day relaxing after a long journey. Guests can also go shopping or sightseeing as per their own convenience. Overnight stay in hotel at Kathmandu.
We drop you to the airport and bid you farewell at the airport as you board your return flight back.
